    To whom this may concern,

OK so I'm planning to write some fanfic involving Inception but it will also involve this anime called Angel Beats - an anime basically about a bunch of high-school students who inhabit the afterlife/purgatory (read: limbo) and form some sort of armed militia to wage war against "God". As my form of creative license, I will say write that this militia appears to people in their dreams (as well as their dreams within their dreams; maybe reality too if its possible) as "ghosts" terrorising these people. Cobb and his group reassemble under the presumption that they can go deep enough to "eradicate" this problem.

Now I want to know a few things:

    • Does Cobb's group need to go through the whole business of going through dre…

    Reviewing My Viewing

    April 29, 2013 by BuudhaRich

I am rewatching "Inception" about once a week, sometimes more in the last month. I am either trapped by the music or the visuals, or maybe a little bit of both.

I recently discovered the Edith Piaf song "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" and listen to it a few times during the day. I joke myself thinking that I'm waiting for "the kick" that will bring me back to the new reality. Is it strange that it never happens? Probably not. :-) I probably am a bit sick of grad school, work and everything else dragging me down a bit for right now. It's only another month and things return to relative normalcy.

For now, watch "Inception" often and hoping that I will here Edith's singing voice somewhere out in the ether.

I am inundated by real world matters. I absolutely do not have the time to waste analyzing a year-old Hollywood sci-fi / fantasy summer blockbuster movie now showing on HBO.

    Yet, here I am.

I am asking myself what kind of person would I need to be – what would I need to think, believe, and feel – to deal with fictional matters and real matters with equal appreciation and respect for their importance to me. To, in a sense, not care if the top falls or endlessly spins.

The answer I’m getting, or giving myself, which I don’t fully understand yet, is that I would have to be committed to change; a change to the quality of my world or myself. That kind of change would require new ideas and new “language.” Change I will not be able to engineer if I’…

    Inception Ponies

    May 3, 2011 by Kate.moon

The most mind-blowing film of 2010 released a spawn of spoofs and analysis about the layers of the dream world. Did the Inception spin top stop spinning? (Try saying that 5 times). Was The Shade real?

Here's a latest spoof of the famous Inception trailer...pony style. Yes, it's a trailer of Inception with My Little Ponies. The strangest part is that the music and dialogue works so well with scenes and clips from My Little Ponies. Who would've thought those sweet horsies led such dramatic lives, full of dream stealing and jumping?

Watch the video below and tell us what you think about Inception Ponies!

This is a subtle thing I noticed but Mal is French and her name translates to "bad". I was looking at the Hans Zimmer's score and the title theme is a modification of a French song from 1960 by the name of "Non, je ne regrette rien" which roughly translates to "I will live no longer with regret". I went and looked into the lyrics/meaning of the song and was surprised to find an apt metaphor for the movie. It is a song about moving on from a lost love. It also addresses "mal", through the singer's perception of good and bad as only relative. The bulk of the song is about ridding oneself of the haunting memories of that lost love. I think Hans Zimmer deliberately chose this song not only for its tune, but for its metaphorical content. The tr…

    The Incepton of Cobb

    January 1, 2011 by Wilis668

This started as a response post, but I think it merits a page. Inception doesn't overtly explain how Cobb gets from "his limbo" to Saito's. It also doesn't explain notable differences between the two limbos (why is Fischer young and Saito old?) or why Cobb appears so disoriented in the latter but not the former. Understanding these differences is, in my view, the key to understanding the movie Inception.

As the film tells us, Limbo is unconstructed dream space. It's dangerous to go there because it's easy to forget that you're dreaming--in other words, in Limbo you get disoriented. It doesn't operate like other dreams in that (a) there are no projections--only what you build, and (b) the dream won't collapse, at least not for decades. To ge…

    On Limbo

    September 30, 2010 by RQK

This is something I originally posted on the discussion page for Limbo. I stated I had a few problems with the mechanics of the thing. Here is what I wrote:

    Something doesn't quite feel fight.

And what I mean by that is the different methods of going into Limbo. I seem to have a problem with the time dilation.

Indeed, Yusef did say that it was impossible to go into three dream layers, but they pulled it off in the movie under sedation. Obviously it is possible. That wasn't why he said it wasn't. The reason he said it was impossible was because the dreams would be so unstable that they were susceptable to collapse. You could actually get to three levels, you just couldn't stay there for long. So entering manually through regular layering is ru…

I loved the soundtrack Zimmer composed for Inception. While it's not a masterpiece, I think it was more than just good for the film. If you ask me, I would say my favorite songs are "Dream is Collapsing", and "528491". I like "Don't think about Elephants", as well. And I would say as a joke response "What about giraffes?"

    An Interesting Idea

    August 12, 2010 by Bastian964

While I was editing other wikis I discovered an interesting function called toggling. It can be use for things like switching between pictures of a character from different sources (Cobol Job, The Big Under, or Inception), hiding text, hiding pictures, or switching what text is displayed. This would allow us to include pictures from different sources in an infobox. Various improved versions of a toggle template can be found here though the base template originally came from here. An example of its use in infoboxes can be found here.

    New Skin

    August 6, 2010 by Azaelius

Hey everyone, you most likely noticed a few graphical changes on the wiki. I've been messing around with creating a new skin for this wiki, mostly as a template for other wiki skins, and I just applied it at around noon (Pacific time) today. There were a lot of bugs to sort out, but with the help of a few people who actually knew what they were doing, we sorted them out (I think). If you'd like to request any changes or if you see any bugs, you can report them on my talk page, and I will see to them as soon as I can. Thanks, and let's keep up the great work on the wiki!

    Finally

    August 5, 2010 by Bastian964

And so the rename-athalon has finally come to an end. I moved Phillipa to Phillipa Cobb, James to James Cobb, Inception (2010 film) to Inception (2010 Film), and had Matias move Dom Cobb to Dominic Cobb. Then I also redirected all the links I could get my hands on to the proper pages. All of this while the database was locked so on most of them I had to hit Save Page multiple times to get it to actually save and it took a while to load. I hope I don't need to do anything this intensive for a while.

Well, for my very first blog, I decided to talk about which film is better: The Dark Knight or our very own Inception. Well, to start off, let's see the plots/genre of each film. Inception is a Sci-Fi Thriller and tells the story of Dom Cobb, a thief who specializes in the art of Extraction (stealing ideas from the sub-conscious). Dom is then offered a chance at redemption, gaining his old life back, if he does one last job that involves the art of Inception (planting of ideas).

The Dark Knight, on the other hand, is a superhero thriller, and continues the story from Batman Begins. In it, a new menace known as the Joker, is planning on throwing Gotham City into Anarchy and it is up to Batman to stop him.

Now, both films were directed and wr…

Yesterday, I watched this movie of Inception in the theater located in near my home. I watched it with my wife. My wife told me that it is very funny and fantastic, which I agree perfectly.

Is there any oriental person who watched this movie? In fact, oriental people consider a dream as important as the real day life. He has so many words and stories about dreams. One of the words is that dream is nothing after we wake up regardless how it is important in the dream.

After I saw this movie, I realize that dream makes time longer than real life because dream is belonging to a unconsciousness area.

    Totems

    July 18, 2010 by Skxwang

As we saw in the movie, the dreamers have to have a totem, something from the real world to help keep them grounded in the dream. Those totems reflect a piece of their personality or something very important to them. Dom has the spinning top that he took from Mal. Ariadne has the hollowed out chess piece, reflecting her ability to create the architecture of the dream, the playing field so to speak. Arthur has the loaded die, showing him as willing to take chances but wanting the odds in his favor. If you were a character in the movie, what would you have as your totem and what aspect of your personality would it reflect?

    End Theories

    July 17, 2010 by Azaelius

This following theory was thought up by TrueJournals, and he was the originator of the end theories idea.

The ending of Inception is left very open. Dom Cobb's totem is seen spinning for a long amount of time, but appears to wobble slightly before the movie cuts to black and the credits. Therefore, there are two possibilites to what happens after: either the top becomes unstable and falls down, or it regains its stability and remains spinning forever. This page serves as a discussion of the moments in the movie that lead to both theories, as well as any more evidence for or against the theories. Please discussion theories on this page's talk page.

If the top keeps spinning, this means that what we are seeing at the end is a dream world -- po…

    Source: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2010/07/17/inception-nabs-over-20-million-on-friday-sorcerers-apprentices-spell-fails/

Christopher Nolan is having a fantastic Saturday. Jerry Bruckheimer is not. For the Dark Knight director scored over $21 million on Friday for his original, mind-bending film Inception. (That includes the $3 million brought in from the opening midnight shows.) The Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer, from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, could now earn $60 million for its three-day opening frame. That’s quite a contrast to The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Disney’s failed attempt to recreate the magic of The National Treasure franchise. The film from Treasure producer Bruckheimer, director Jon Turteltaub and star Nicolas Cage gr…

Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” has made for one of the most tightly guarded projects to come along in quite some time. Plot descriptions have been relegated to “it’s a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind,” while the teaser trailer that debuted online yesterday and with select prints of “Inglourious Basterds” over the weekend was careful not to give away too much of the story. It was a teaser in the strictest sense of the word, and I fully respect Nolan for that.

I’ve heard that Nolan hates the internet. He is a director who respects the integrity of experiencing a film fresh and without the barrage of story-specific publicity that can ruin, or at the very least, lessen the impact of that experience. Ha…

I was reading over Tectonium's post about information sources for the film, I thought I'd try to create a central area for links and other resources that you can go to if you're trying to find character information, pictures for infoboxes, etc. So please, post any links that you have been using or that you know about; we need to have some high quality articles to go along with our high quality layout. :P

The first reviews of Inception (2010 film) have been extremely postive, and it has a "fresh" 100% in Rotten Tomatoes. It is even considered as a masterpiece for some. Here are some reviews:

    • Todd Gilchrist: A stunning achievement and the most completely entertaining film I've seen in years.
    • Devin Faraci: Inception is a masterpiece. Making a huge film with big ambitions, Christopher Nolan never missteps and manages to create a movie that, at times, feels like a miracle.
    • Pete Hammond: The acting, from a great ensemble led by DiCaprio, is as good as it gets. Special shout outs to Wally Pfister's extraordinary cinematography, the challenging and intricate production design of Guy Hendrix Dyas and Han's Zimmer's haunting score, which is his best in ye…

    Information

    July 8, 2010 by Tectonium

Hey guys, I know most of you from the Avatar Wiki and just realized this wiki was under construction. I'm really looking forward to this movie, and want to help out in any way I can. I was just wondering where you guys were getting your information. Obviously you haven't seen the movie yet (right?), but if you've seen the correct script (as I've seen a fake or two floating around) can you let me know?
