Paradox is the eleventh track on the album Inception: Music from the Motion Picture. It runs for 3:25 minutes. The title refers to the use of impossible shapes in a dream, in this case, Penrose steps.
|“|| Arthur: "In a dream you can cheat architecture into impossible shapes. That lets you create closed loops, like the Penrose steps. The infinite staircase. See..."
[The staircase he and Ariadne have been climbing up suddenly shifts up.]
Arthur: "...paradox. So a closed loop liked that will help you disguise the boundaries of the dream you create."
This track plays when Cobb is in limbo with his projection of Mal, after she was shot by Ariadne, and Cobb is reminding her that they did grow old together and that he has to let her go. It continues to the scene when the rest of the team awake in the van and swim out to shore. The track continues on to when Cobb washes up on the shore of the Japanese Castle and finds Saito there in his old age.
