|The Dilapidated Hotel Room|
Falling into a bathtub
Nash created the dream as a replica of a real hotel room that Saito kept to facilitate affairs. When the film opens, all the sleepers but Nash are already in the second dream level and Saito's projections are raging outside. Arthur is the first to wake, but as he is the dreamer of the Palace, he knows that it's only a matter of time before the Palace dream collapses. Arthur rushes to further sedate Saito before he wakes, but is too late.
Meanwhile, Nash attempts to wake Cobb before Saito by pushing him into a bathtub. Cobb wakes and overpowers Saito, demanding the information that he failed to extract in the Palace dream. Saito tells the trio that he is unimpressed with them, and had only let them enter his mind to test them for a future job. Suddenly, a musical cue begins to sound through the dream, warning Cobb that the dream will soon end. Arthur is woken up. Cobb pushes Saito to the ground and demands the information again, but Saito discovers that he is still dreaming when he feels that his carpet is not made of the proper material. Upon realizing this, his projections burst into the room and kill Nash and Cobb, while Saito looks on, bewildered.
