The Japanese Castle was the second dream level in the heist on Saito's mind. It was dreamt by Arthur.
Cobb and Arthur speak to Saito in the Palace, offering their services to help him learn to protect his mind from theft. However, Saito sees the truth, that Cobb and Arthur are actually planning on committing extraction on his mind when his guard is down. Cobb and Arthur walk around the dream and plan, and Cobb sees his projection of Mal. Cobb splits up from Arthur to speak with Mal and perform the extraction. He is interrupted by Saito and Mal, who begin to torture a kidnapped Arthur. Cobb shoots Arthur to wake him up, but his absence causes the dream to collapse. The collapse causes debris to fall, which kills and wakes Saito. Meanwhile, Cobb reads the information he extracted, but notes some parts are blacked out, indicating Satio is still holding on to his more personal secrets. Suddenly, the dream begins to fill with water as Cobb's sleeping body in Level 1 is kicked into a bathtub, waking Dom up.
